Originally opening 1972 - the Aquarius was an instant hit when it opened on the back of the cabaret craze that swept the country in the late 1960s. The Spanish-themed venue brought some of the biggest names in entertainment to perform for local audiences.

Names like Bob Monkhouse, Charlie Williams, the Drifters, Ken Dodd and scores of other renowned artists all wowed local crowds in the 1970s and 1980s.

Disco sounds, chicken-in-a-basket meals and performances from some of the biggest stars on the planet were on the menu for the duration of the life of the Aquarius.
